General maintenance includes disassembly, cleaning and alignment of optical
surfaces, replacing lubricants, adjusting tension, and axis confirmation and
calibration if needed.

Rates for general maintenance include labor only. When repair is needed additional
costs include labor and parts.

Instruments that are overdue for service or have been serviced by another repair service will be charged an extra fee.

A price adjustment may be needed depending on the condition of the instrument or if I am following another repair service.

II. Preventive Maintenance Services:

Our lane equipment preventive maintenance service helps to eliminate a “lane down”
situation. Proper adjustment and lubrication of your equipment is essential for a
busy practice.

This service includes the following:
  • Instrument Arm:  Adjust lock position; check set screws and perform minor lubrication.
  • Slit Lamp: Level table, lubricate table pin/bushing, clean table glide plate, interior cleaning/lubrication of the instrument. Clean electrical contacts in the bulb housing and inspect all electrical wires.
  • Overhead reading lamp:  Adjust tension, operation and minor lubrication.
  • Hand instruments and BIO: Ensure proper operation and minor clean.  Make sure charging wells operate properly.
  • Exam chair: Ensure proper operation.  Make recommendation if any major problems exist (hydraulic leaks, worn bearings).  Minor adjustments are done as needed (headrest, rotation lock, or tilt lock).
